What happens before and after your
body weight changes?
This is one of the biggest questions
which burns in the minds of people who want to lose weight. As
a bigger picture it contains lots of smaller questions, such as
what will I have to do to get slimmer? What types of foods will
I have to avoid? What do I really enjoy eating, now, that I
won't be able to eat after? How much exercise will I have to do
and how often, etc?
The more positive side of the inner
thoughts revolve around such things as what activities you will
be able to enjoy doing, after you lose weight and get fit, as
opposed to what your restrictions in these areas are
now.
The bottom line is that all of these
things will vary, depending on what they are at the moment, and
depending on how important your health is to you right now.
Take into consideration such things as your age, how long you
are going to live for and what your state of health is now as
compared to what it could be
Strong motivators take the shape of
thoughts about what your restrictions are now, in terms of
ability to do things, what you can and cannot wear, how you
feel about yourself when out in public, what you would like to
look like as opposed to what you see in the mirror today. Would
you like to be able to fit into a size 12 dress as opposed to a
size 14?
Would you like to be able to run the
length of a beach with your children, or go canoing, instead of
only being able to stroll and watch everyone else enjoy
themselves. What about being able to walk up a couple of
flights of stairs without feeling puffed when you reach the
top, or go on bicycling with your kids.
Not only that but there are also the
health factors to be taken into account. Things such as
reducing the risk of heart attack tenfold, or (even worse)
stroke, by as much as 20 times less simply by getting fit and
following a few simple dietary rules. Such changes as salt
reduction, reducing saturated fat intake levels and eating fish
instead of meat can all make a HUGE difference in cholesterol
levels and coronary heart disease.
Ok, so you may or may not have
decided to take action to reduce your weight, get fit, or
simply just tone up and become a healthy person. One thing
which comes to mind, for me at least, seeing as how I have
children, is that I want to be around for them for as long as I
possibly can, and I want to be in good health for them too. One
of the biggest regret children have is when their parents die
early on in life, say, in their fifties.
It is especially disturbing when the
facts of the matter reveal that the heart attack which killed
was avoidable, simply by losing weight and getting
healthy.
That was all the person had to do to
live another 20 years.
It is so sad that many people still
fail to realize this
