Weight Loss Supplements
All forms of weight loss are
effective, however the difference lies in how much effort the
person has to put in to achieve results and the state of the
person after any method gets applied. Weight loss
supplements have played a big part in changing the way we see
weight loss. How to achieve it rapidly has been the subject of
much controversy over the years.
Dietary aids containing different
substances have been responsible for many a bad experience and
have given rise to a whole new breed of health problems. The
biggest culprit, in promoting these types of products in the
past, has been the Hollywood film industry. Hollywood churned
out countless numbers of movies containing super thin models
who then rose to film star status.
As this occurred the teenage segment
of the viewing population began to model themselves off the
body shapes being presented on the big screen. Weight loss
supplements hit their peak in the late sixties. No one was so
famous for being skinny as the extremely thin 'twiggy' who was
a far cry from the fifties era 'Marilyn Monroe' more, well
rounded look.
Every weight loss supplement carries
warnings on the containers about the risks associated with
using them. It is sad then, that, in most cases the print
is too small to read, and that the public awareness campaigns
around such things are not what they could
be.
When considering using ANY weight
loss supplement you should be investigating any side effects it
may have. The potential, also, for addiction is very real and
the percentages of people who fall victim to diet pill
addiction is astounding. Research now shows an 18 % chance of
becoming addicted within the first 3 months of
use.
This of course has a pre-disposition
factor built in it. That means that certain people will be
already be suseptible (pre-disposed) to becoming addicts.
Persons with previous addictive patterns should be particularly
vigilant and aware of the dangers. Anyone who has alcoholic
parents also need to be careful, as research has recently shown
that the alcoholic tendency is actually a genetic factor which
can be inherited, and is not just a product of up bringing, or
exposure to alcohol at a young age.
Addiction to psycho-active drugs
(substances which affect the brain) is nothing new, but what
makes the problem particularly dangerous with diet pills, and
weight loss supplements specifically, is the ease with which
they can be obtained, and the lack ability to control how much
gets consumed at any one time.
Severe disorders have grown out of
the diet supplement industry and steroid use is of particular
concern. Steroids have been responsible for the fall of many
otherwise would be famous people. Recent Olympic events hold
testimony to this fact and Olympic committee's, the world over,
ban outright the use of diet supplements for this very reason.
That in itself should serve as warning
enough.
There are a lot of healthy
alternatives aside from shady diet supplements. We investigated
over 100 weight loss products and found 3 which were worthy and
